Sink or Sail

August 23

The Fools’ Rules Regatta is an annual 500-yard wind-powered race in which participants  create their own marine vessels out of found objects and race them to the finish line. Each year, Regatta enthusiasts prove that Styrofoam coolers are not just for keeping drinks cold, umbrellas are not just good in the rain and duct tape can be a literal life—er, boat—saver. 9 a.m. Jamestown Town Beach, Conanicus Avenue, Jamestown, 401-423-1492, jyc.org
